BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- A rotating bridge on the Guangxi Coastal Highway successfully completed its rotation on Thursday, crossing the Qinzhou-Fangchenggang high-speed railway and the Nanning-Fangchenggang railway, according to China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. The operation laid a solid foundation for the highway to open to traffic on schedule.

The Changli Overpass is located in Maoling Town, Fangchenggang City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a key and difficult project on the highway. Its rotating section is 158 meters long and 39.4 meters wide, adopting a double T-shaped rotating girder design. Its area is equivalent to about 14 standard basketball courts, with a total rotating weight of 36,000 tonnes.

To ensure normal operation of the two railways, the construction team built the bridge parallel to the railways and then rotated it during a temporary window when no trains were running. For the large-scale rotation, the team joined hands with universities on technical research to solve problems such as imbalance and alignment deviation in wide bridge rotation. They also applied an intelligent synchronous traction system and a multi-dimensional real-time monitoring system to monitor core parameters including girder stress, displacement, speed and traction force, dynamically adjusting construction parameters to achieve precise docking.

The Guangxi Coastal Highway is an important part of National Highway G228 from Dandong to Dongxing, passing through Fangchenggang, Qinzhou and Beihai, with a main line of about 314.2 km. Once the Changli Overpass is completed, it will further open up the freight channel of the Qisha Industrial Zone in Fangchenggang, improve the local supporting road network of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and optimize coastal industrial logistics in the city.
