JINAN, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The longest tunnel on the Qingdao connecting line of the Weifang-Suqian High-Speed Railway (Weisu High-Speed Railway) was completed, laying a solid foundation for accelerated construction of the project.

The Yangshan Tunnel, a single-hole double-track structure with a total length of 2,754 meters and a maximum burial depth of 219 meters, is a key control project of the entire line. More than 1,000 meters of the tunnel pass through poor-quality surrounding rock, presenting complex geological conditions, high construction difficulties and significant safety risks.

The tunnel is invested by Shandong Railway Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd.'s Jiqing High-Speed Railway Company and constructed by China Railway 25th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. During construction, the CR25B project team dynamically optimized blasting plans while employing China's advanced miniature unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) intelligent patrol system, fully automated digital 3D laser scanning system, and intelligent information platform. By integrating full-space autonomous tunnel patrols and multi-source data fusion for realistic reproduction and tracking monitoring, alongside a geological prediction system, they established a comprehensive safety defense line, effectively mitigating risks and ensuring the tunnel's safe completion.

Located in the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula, the 108.78-km Qingdao connecting line of the Weifang-Suqian High-Speed Railway serves as a key link between the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway's auxiliary corridor and the coastal corridor under China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. Upon completion, it is expected to significantly facilitate passenger travel and economic exchanges between the Jiaodong Peninsula and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to the north, as well as the Yangtze River Delta and other regions to the south.
